It Started With a Kiss episode 18: Out and about!

All this year, I'm keeping a video diary of everything that goes into writing my third novel, It Started With a Kiss, due to be published on 10th November. This week, I take you to one of my favourite places - and the birthplace of many of my story ideas - Bridgnorth in Shropshire.

Last week I asked for your suggestions for what you wanted to see in this week's vlog. The very lovely Suzy Turner suggested that I head off out with my camera again - so here's what happened when I did just that!

Bridgnorth can boast quite a few important inspirations for my stories. Firstly, there are two florists' shops in the town that between them were the original inspiration for Rosie's Kowalski's flower store in Fairytale of New York. Also, when I worked at a coffee shop in the town, the customers I saw inspired those of my short story blog, September's, where each story reveals the life of one of the customers or staff of the fictional September's cafe.

I'll show you the places that inspired me, give you an exclusive sneak-peek at my character planning for Book 4 - and watch out for a glimpse of Ron Howard himself from Welcome To My World!

So come on, what are you waiting for? Let's go!

p.s. This week's YouTube-nominated freeze-frame is entitled, 'Last Train from Bridgnorth'

Enjoy! xx

I love Bridgenorth although I haven't been there for a few years. I used to be married to someone who came from nearby and think I may have bought my flowers from the first florist for my first wedding. I've also been on that wonderful train.

Thanks for the fab vlog.

Hello Miranda, how you doing? Just wanted to ask a quick Q! When writing, at least when I write, I often feel quite bogged down by the endless lists out there warning of what you should and shouldn't do - when writing to be published that is! So I was just wondering what you would recommend - throw the rule book away and just write what you want to write and hope everything will work out alright in the end or would you say it's quite important to heed all the advice if you hope to be published? Hope that makes sense! Thanks Miranda, Dorothy x

Fantastic video, Miranda! Now I'm having real pangs for England! I'm desperately trying to convince my husband to move back and, funnily enough, Shropshire is on my list of possibles! Bridgnorth looks absolutely beautiful... sigh.
Question...
Will you be doing a tour for the release of It Started With a Kiss? If so, when will it begin and where do you envisage visiting?
Look forward to Vlog episode 19!!

What a lovely video! The idea of people haunting their park benches is so wonderful ... gave me proper goosebumps!

I'd love to know what happens once a book is published? How do you and your publisher go about promoting it? Is is difficult to think up new ways of marketing and what ideas have you got for this one?
